Saturdays Blog .Thankfully we have finally had a game at home . First this year , and indeed since 29th November, when we defeated Petershill 3- 1 .The game kicked off in dry weather, but with a cold wind blowing in from the East, that made it feel even colder than what it actually was. ( about 7 or 8 degrees ).Lanark started off reasonably well and in one of their first attacks , took the lead on about 5 minutes. A cross ball into our box was decisively punched away by Andy Wilson, but it fell to a Lanark player who shot from just outside the box , through a bunch of bodies into the net . Oh dear !However, they were unable to hold onto this lead for long, as Reece Mcguire was brought down in the box , in the tenth minute , and Mr Reliable, Ross Barbour equalised from the spot .We then took the lead about the 20 minute mark , when Danny Burns finished off a good move by tapping in from close range. Good to see Danny scoring again .The first half ended 2-1 to the home side , after some poor periods of play , especially from Darvel, who were guilty of misplaced passes , and conceding a few needless free kicks . The referee today was very strict ( for both sides ) and did not let the players away with anything. We expected a wee team talk from Nacho at the break would see an improvement from Darvel in the second half , and we were not dissapointed. We took the game by the scruff of the neck , and created many near things , but we had to wait a while before we got the goal our play deserved . Again it was another tap in from Danny Burns , following great work on the left wing from Scott Lewis. We thought, that's it , game over, but Lanark had other ideas , started to control the game , and eventually scored ( from our point of view ) a scappy second goal . ( Oh dear again ! )The team supplied the perfect response by scoring our 4th goal minutes after Lanark' s second goal , when Reece Mcguire scrambled the ball home from close range. We held on comfortably for the remainder of the match to run out 4- 2 winners, and a deserved victory. That's 5 wins on the bounce. Impressive stuff from our players, since the new manager and coaching staff were appointed. It was also good to see some of the boys from the under 20' s getting some game time again today. This will hopefully help them progress , and continue to assist the team in the remainder of the season .We are away from home again next Saturday to Gartcairn, and it goes without saying that we all hope to continue this winning streak .We shall see ......DarvelFC
