Darvel Fc vs Kirkintilloch RR 31 October 2026 4-1 Win

Darvel FC V Kirkintolloch Rob Roy Match Report – 2:00 pm - Saturday 31 October 2026

Darvel FC showed their dominance with a convincing 4-1 win over Rob Roy at Recreation Park – three points secured and a vital victory at home.

The game kicked off with Darvel on the front foot, firing a long-range shot straight into Rob Roy’s half. In the opening 5-10 minutes, The Vale pushed through Kirkintilloch’s defence far too easily and dominated possession early.

First Half

Kirkintilloch Rob Roy had their first effort on target - a short shot taken in front of goal – but since then Darvel continued to outperform, dominating large spells of the first half and looking dangerous – with shouts for handball and a potential penalty as Nacho Novo’s side went on the break.

Darvel FC, led by captain Ross Barbour, continued to cause the Glasgow side problems in the final third, eventually opening the scoring in the 12th minute with Billy Owen’s low, driven shot beating the keeper to put The Vale up 1-0.

Despite Darvel and their quick, aggressive attacking play, Rob Roy’s Josh Bolan was a threat down the left wing, driving forward past Darvel’s centre-halves in their first attack since conceding.

In roughly the 24th minute, all eyes were once again returned to Darvel – with an in-swinging cross from Scott Ferguson to Ross Barbour at the back post – Barbour’s header nearly doubled their lead – a huge chance for Darvel to capitalise.Soon after Darvel’s attempt, Rob Roy got back into the game against the run of play – number 7 set up Michael Baber, who slid the ball into the corner of the net. The score remains level at half-time.

Second Half

Darvel kicked off the second half quickly, and it began with a foul on Gibson, leading to a free kick in the 48th minute for Rob Roy before The Vale were in total cruise control once again.

In the 50th minute, Darvel had a chance to take the lead again when they were awarded a penalty. Captain Ross Barbour stepped up and put the Vale up 2-1, and the momentum returned to the home side.

Darvel continued to increase pressure on the away side as Robertson tested the Kirkintilloch twice in quick succession.

With Darvel dominating possession again, another goal was on the cards soon after: The Vale surged forward, pushing for a third.

Rob Roy’s keeper brought down Barbour inside the 18-yard box, and another penalty was awarded. Ross Barbour steps up to put Darvel in a comfortable lead and scores his second penalty of the match – putting The Vale up 3-1.

Manager Nacho Novo then freshes things up and makes a couple of substitutions in the 73rd minute.

In the 78th minute, Darvel was awarded another corner, which was whipped into Rob Roy’s box. Fitzpatrick capitalised with a strong header to make it 4-1 for Darvel – the keeper could not keep it out of the bottom corner.

In the closing minutes, Darvel had yet another chance through Alex Nimmo to make it 5-1, forcing a shot over the bar with the keeper at full stretch.

The Vale soars to the final whistle, and the match ends 4-1, giving Darvel a vital three points.  Ross Barbour picks up Man of the Match.
